Drug issues are currently a worldwide threat, with some countries slightly affected and some countries strongly affected. In Cambodia, the circulation, smuggling, distribution and abuse of drugs [is prevalent], particularly among students and youths of both sexes who are increasingly becoming entrapped by and becoming slaves to the drugs. Their loss of self-control results in concern about the future of the nation and [the availability of] human resources for the next generation. Observing this and being concerned, I personally, in the past, had a son who fell victim to drug abuse and with resources, a medical group and some experienced and appropriately-trained friends of mine who had also worked for a drug addiction treatment center for a long time encouraged me to establish an association called (the Drug Addiction Relief Treatment-Education-Training Association), with the acronym (D.T.A), on March 11, 2008 in accordance with Letter No. 348 N. of the Ministry of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia, with the aim of helping to educate and treat the addicts, contributing to saving them and [undertaking] humanitarian activities for the nation as a whole. On April 9, 2008, This association was officially inaugurated under the presidency of His Excellency the Lieutenant General LUOR Ramin, the Secretary-General of the General Secretariat of the National Authority for Combating Drugs, attended by approximately 200 guests of honor, at its head office at No. 173–174 Alley, Raung Chak village, Phnom Penh Thmey quarter, Sen Sok district, Phnom Penh. Thanks to the subsequent successful detoxification leading to it being more attractive to parents they refer children to our center every day. Due to the former head office being too small to accept additional addicts, I decided to relocate to a new location at No. 121–122 Street 58P, Dey Thmey village, Phnom Penh Thmey quarter, Sen Sok district, Phnom Penh, with a sports center, fitness center, residential building and an appropriate treatment building.
